Dear [NAME],
I want to take this opportunity to say hello to all the fans of the Rebel Regiment Marching Band. As you are aware, we just completed two weeks of a highly successful band camp. Were you at the parent performance that Friday night? I was very excited to see so many parents and friends of the band! If you did not make the performance, here is what you need to know about the 2011 season: Rock the House!
All about the Music! Our musical selections include: Mr. Roboto, House of the Rising Sun, Anyway You Want It, and Come on Feel the Noize. There is certainly a song from our show that you will be singing over and over again!
Sell Meat!! We are currently in the middle of a meat fundraiser that we kicked off at band camp. Your band student should be trying to sell at least two tickets! Don't know about it? Email me and I will give you the details!
The Trip... As you have heard, we are traveling to Orlando in late November! Specific details will be ironed out at our next band booster meeting which is Tuesday, August 9th at 7:00PM, be there!
The site... There was a tentative list of dates that I provided to parents at the last band booster meeting. Some of those have changed- please always check the Rebel Regiment website for updates and information. As I get more date information, I will post it on the site, on the board, on paper to go home, and on my website as well. There will be no reason to "not know".
Rehearsal Schedules... The full band will rehearse each Wednesday from 3:30-5:30. As you have been told so many times, not attending a Wednesday rehearsal has negative consequences on that week's performance. Be there! The Auxiliary will rehearse after school on Mondays, while I am moving the Percussion rehearsal from the usual Mondays to Tuesdays. This is necessary for better instruction for those groups. I want to be able to spend my time, unobstructed, versus trying to work with two groups at once. Let's get this band going!
I wanted to thank everyone for the very warm welcome that my wife and I have received since our arrival in Nashville. I would like to invite you to my professional website, the link is posted below my signature. On this site, you can learn about my background as a band director and musician, view the syllabi for the courses, and read through the Band Handbook (in progress). Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Also, feel free to contact me if you just want to talk.
Wonderful things are happening with the Rebel Regiment Band and I look forward to our progress together!
Best Regards,
Chris Harper
